Acupressure

Sometimes called acupuncture without needles, acupressure involves the application of manual pressure to specific points on the body. These neurolymphatic points are established according to principles of traditional Chinese medicine. The application of pressure releases lactic acid and congestion and stimulate nerves for better overall health.

Chiropractic

Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments are a safe and effective way to relieve pain and promote long-term improved health. Spinal, pelvic, and extremity malpositions or subluxations (fixated joints) are treated with specific chiropractic adjustments (manipulations). Adjustments aid the body’s natural healing power to correct joints to their appropriate anatomic positions, restore range of motion, and release adhesions to the surrounding ligaments.

Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a form of diagnosis that uses muscle testing to examine how a person’s body is functioning and what the best therapy is for the patient. AK is an interdisciplinary approach to health care. The proper course of treatment is developed by combining AK with health history, thorough examination, and laboratory findings.

Exercise & Stretching

Because we heal more quickly when we follow up chiropractic treatments with exercise regimens at home, Dr. Nilsson suggests specific exercises and teaches them to patients in his office. In addition to this “homework” he uses active and passive stretching techniques in his therapy and also employs the use of Inversion Therapy, Balance Boards, Therabands, Hand Weights, and Exercise Balls. For his patients who have gym memberships, Dr. Nilsson recommends specific workouts suited to the patient’s issues.

Muscle Relief

This technique is a non-invasive, safe treatment that provides positive results with virtually no side-effects. Dr. Nilsson evaluates soft tissue problems with his hands, assessing the texture, tension, movement and function of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. He then uses pressure and motion to break up scar tissue and adhesions that have formed due to direct injury or repetitive movement over time.

Supportive Taping

Dr. Nilsson uses different types of tape and taping techniques when treating injuries. One type is called Kinesio tape, a cotton tape with an acrylic adhesive that is used in physical therapy to relax overused muscles and facilitate underused muscles.

Ultrasound Treatment

Ultrasound Therapy involves the use of ultrasonic waves (sound waves of a high frequency), produced by means of mechanical vibration of the metal treatment head of the ultrasound machine, to ease the pain in joints and muscles. Other similar treatments used are Diathermy Treatment and Electro Muscle Stimulation.
